'Modern medicine?' She asked, having no clue that something in the shape like those pills, could actually help someone's health.
'But, how does it work? It looks so small.' She commented, handing over the pill bottle and rummaged further through the bag.

'I'm guessing the Woodwhispers didn't see any value in here. I'm not even sure what these things are.' She commented, taking out more pill bottles, syringes, bandages. 'Oh wait, I know what these are, they look like the bandages we use here.' She stated proudly, finally having found something she knew of.

"They are extracted essences of herbs usually," Mirk explained, taking the bottle into hand. He grimaced at the label and tossed it over near the blankets. "Most of them are packed with talc, sugar or flour of some kind, to make them pill shaped and easier to swallow. You might want me to have a look at all of them. That one was an aphrodisiac."

Mirk organized the bottles and syringes as they came out. Some of the liquid medicines had lost their lead stopper, and he threw these over with the pile that was quickly building up of medicines that harmed. "These are safe. Mostly painkillers and fever medication."

He pointed at a rather... much smaller pile nearby.

"And yes, those are bandages." Mirk half wondered how the Windwhispers had managed to find all of this stuff. Usually the medicines and sharps were locked away securely unless they were needed. Though he was surprised they had carried so much... he stared at the bigger pile. "There were a few serums to induce pain, or weakness and various other nasty effects. Temporary paralysis, over-charging sensitivity. So forth. Be careful where you put that pile."

Xiao Mai stared at the piles 'So many harming medicines and so much less helping medicine? It doesn't make beings from outside look good.' She sighed. 'We could put the ones that can't be used in a locked closet. Or I will send it to my friend? He might give it back to the creators of them?' She suggested, not knowing Xiao Lan could actually use it on his newest interest.

There were some running steps on the water and soon the waterfall opened like a curtain again.

'Xiao Mai, Reta sa!' A girl came running in, looking like she was afraid of something. She planted her hands on her knees and panted from the running she did. Her cheeks burning and sweat drops on her forehead. She was dressed in wood colors, with some armor here and there.

'Pek pnudran teth'd fyhd sa du duilr rec cdivv, pid E ylletahdymmo pnuga uha frema bmyoehk fedr ed.' She panted, then looked up, finally noticing Mirk 'Ur, rammu?'

'Oui cruimth'd ryja bmyoat fedr ed, ev ra dumt oui hud du' She answered with a chuckle.
'Rainie Drec ec Mirk. Ra lyh'd cbayg ouin myhkiyka.' She motioned towards Mirk.

'Oh, hello?' Rainie glanced him over a little while longer, then pointed at him 'You're the one from that accident? Eh... I mean. How are you?' She rubbed her neck with a nervous smile.

(Translations:

Xiao Mai: /You shouldn't have played with it, if he told you not to. /Rainie this is Mirk, he can't speak your language. )

"Slavers aren't very nice people, Xiao Mai. It tends to be part of the job descrïption." Mirk had a more realistic idea about where Xiao Mai's friend would use them, if his summation that it would a Furlein was correct. "... Your Furlein friend would find it useful..."

He coughed, but before he had to explain any further, another figure rushed through the curtain. Though Mirk had no grasp of the language at all, he could tell from their tones that the girl was in trouble from something but since Mai did not panic, it was probably a domestic matter.

He nodded politely at the greeting, guessing by context what the 'Drec ec Mirk' part meant. "Hello Rainie," he said, waving away her initial impoliteness as inconsequential. He suddenly realized how easily he had slipped back into the mannerisms of a free man, and in his case, a slaver. No wonder they all thought he was one of those Furlein.

"I'm fine now, thank you. If you don't mind me asking, what race would you be?"

Rainie gazed away, standing up straight with shifty eyes 'Ahehehe~ Race? Why would we think in races when we're all living beings?' She kept her gaze away from him. She guessed he probably was already informed about the Woodwhispers.

Xiao Mai was about to answer the race, when her mouth got covered by Rainie. 'Drana'c hu haat du damm, Xiao Mai. Caneuicmo, drana'c hu haat du.' She spoke out. Throwing Mirk one of her sweetest smiles.

Xiao Mai just sighed and pulled her hand away.

{Trans: There's no need to tell, Xiao Mai. Seriously, there's no need to.)

"It's what separates people," Mirk answered without pause. He had been asked the same question time and again before, but he knew the reason to himself. "Different races have different customs, misunderstandings can cause strife and unnecessary argument. It's always better to lay the differences out in the open first."

What he didn't add was that knowing someone's race also helped him put a price on their heads. He was quite glad though that he did not fall back into the habit of price-tagging everyone he met even when his mannerisms had become more slaver-like again.

"If you would not like to tell though, I would hazard a few guesses that it is a race you think I might react negatively to, but I won't push the matter." He smiled back at her, but it was the white-eyed smile of a serpent. Some habits were even harder to break.

Rainie nodded, but shivered at his smile. 'Ec ra y Furlein?' She asked, pointing at Mirk while looking at Xiao Mai with a blank expression.

Xiao Mai shook her head, which made Rainie frown 'Yna oui cina?' She asked again, not convinced at all.

'E ys cina.' Xiao Mai nodded. Then Rainie sighed, scratching her head with a frown. 'Rainie's a Woodwhisper.' Xiao Mai fessed up, this resulted in Rainie throwing her arms around in denial 'She's lying! Fro tet oui damm res?' She asked in a whiny voice, puffing her cheeks up.

This send Xiao Mai in a clear laugh, Rainie always sported the visualizing expressions like a clear glass. Sometimes even overdoing them.

(Tr: Is he a Furlein. / Are you sure? / I am sure / Why did you tell him?)

Mirk watched the exchange blankly, though he had some idea that he was being accused of being Furlein again. This seemed to be something of a theme with the wood dwellers, so the Furlein were probably natural Masters, though he had not heard of a race being something like that. A few possibilities sprouted up in his own head, but he dismissed them. White eyes and a truly dominant nature were not common in humans, but it didn't make him inhuman.

"I'm afraid I was a little lost on that one," he stated. It was obvious really. "And why would it bother you to let me know what you are? It's not your fault you decided to ransack my caravan."

He kept his face completely deadpan, so it was impossible to know whether the last comment was a joke or something else. "I would very much appreciate some help though. Since your people seem good at finding things."

He wondered vaguely how to communicate the idea of a magical key to a species that probably didn't read human.

Rainie stepped forward with an accusing finger 'Hey, that thing exploded on it's own. It's not our fault, we grew the tree there!' Her finger lowered as Xiao Mai placed her hands on Rainie's shoulders.

'Calm down, little one. You shouldn't just pop a tree out of nowhere with moving things.' She commented, throwing her a glance, that made Rainie frown and mumble in her own language.

'What is it that you want?' Rainie asked, popping next to him with crossed legs, hands tucked under her chin and staring at him with big eyes. He managed to catch her full attention.
